Sensory Snow Activities

Snow can be such a fun sensory material to use in the classroom, there are so many fun ways to incorporate snow into meaningful sensory and play activities.  Here are a few of my favorites: Do you want to build a snowman? This is by far the simplest way to play with snow in the classroom.  Just give the kids a tray full of snow, with the rule of the snow must stay in the tray! Let the kids build snowmen, towers, mini forts for figurines the only limit is their imagination. Snow Painting Give students a tray of snow and let them paint it with various brushes.  Regular paint works well but my favorite way to paint snow is to mix up some snow paint. Snow Paint- Mix food dye and water in small cups.  *Bonus for those kids that may put sensory materials in their mouth it is non-toxic. Dramatic Play Give students toys to play with on a craft tray, some that work well are: Dollhouse/ plastic people Cars Arctic Animals   Fake Snow For those of you who live in...

Goal Setting for Teacherpreneurs

Image
Do you consider yourself to be a teacherpreneur?  Have your been working toward building your TpT store for some time and you are ready to take it up to the next step?  Here are some goal setting ideas to keep in mind when planning out your 2021 goals. How much time can you commit each day/ week/ month to build your store? What would help your store grow the most?   How can you hold yourself accountable for spending the time you have to grow your store? Time is one of our biggest constraints, for many TpT is a side hustle that gets done when you have completed the duties of your full-time job, running a household and caring for children. So that being said, it is amazing that we get anything done!   These three questions are crucial because if you can truly spend a certain amount of time each day or week building your store, it will continue to grow.   What is most important, is to spend the time actually growing your store.  This means makin...

Happy New Year!

Wow, what a year it has been! Although so many people are so ready to be done with "2020," myself included.  I think it is important to take some time to reflect on the positives and growth that we have made during this year as well.   Teachers in particular had some amazing growth in their careers!  Even if you are a teacher that struggled with virtual learning, zoom meetings, and remote teaching, you have come such a long way!  Do not discredit yourself, we learned within a matter of weeks how to do our job in a drastically different way, and for that, we should all be proud. We all had a lot of free time, especially back in March.  For myself, I spent a great deal of time gardening and had my biggest harvest even this summer/fall.  I also took more time to shift my "Live Learning Love Learning" store to have more products for teachers to use for remote learning.  I'm not necessarily proud of this one but I also watched a ton of Netflix an...

The New Circle Time

Click here  to view my, "Circle Time Book" on TpT. I n the past, the focus of my circle time was basic skills like days of the week, weather, and counting in addition to socialization, turn-taking, and coming up to the Smartboard. However, with new social distancing guidelines, I realize that I will need to revamp my circle time procedures. In order to drive my instruction, I wanted to make a clear outline of what I wanted my students to gain from this time. socialization (from a distance) turn-taking following directions calendar skills feelings numbers alphabet shapes colors Normally, my students would raise their hand, I would call on them and they would come up to the smartboard to select their choice of song about each topic. However, because students will not be able to come up to the board, they will each need a copy of slide so that they can select by pointing on their copy which song they want to hear (my students are non-verbal so they need the visual to communicate...
